Certificate III in Competitive Systems and Practices – MSS30316
Course Overview
The Certificate III in Competitive Systems and Practices (MSS30316) provides the skills needed to improve efficiency in a person’s own work role or the efficiency of a team or work area. It complements but does not duplicate qualifications supplying operational, production, maintenance, logistics, administration or other technical skills to industry.
The skills in this qualification are often known in industry under a variety of titles many of which relate to manufacturing which is the origin of many competitive systems and practices. The most common term is lean manufacturing. However, other names for some of the system skills and techniques include agile manufacturing, lean operations, six sigma and lean six sigma.
Entry Requirements
This qualification has no formal entry requirement. However, it should be noted that this qualification is not intended to supply operational or technical skills that are used in conjunction with competitive systems and practices skills.
This qualification assumes that a learner has current or past work experience where operational or technical skills have already been gained and a supervisory, facilitation or similar level of responsibility exists. The qualification is not suitable for direct entry from school.
Course Mode of Training
Vative Academy’s Certificate III in Competitive Systems and Practices is only available through a workplace-based training delivery and may also be delivered through means of a Traineeship. All training and assessment is conducted on-the-job over a face-to-face delivery method.
Course Outcome
Lead and mentored by group members undertaking Certificate IV level qualification, students will be directly involved in participating in continuous improvement with the goal in achieving operational excellence through Lean Six Sigma. Participants will gain the foundational skills of what Lean Six Sigma principles have on offer. Certificate III level participants will achieve an understanding of the following Lean Six Sigma concepts:

Course Progression
Upon completion, Certificate III participants who fast develop the natural ability in building an internal continuous improvement capability that will foster benefits in the long run may be upskilled to a Certificate IV in Competitive Systems and Practices and step up to the challenge of implementing a Lean Six Sigma project within their organisation.
Course Outline
To be awarded Vative Academy’s Certificate III in Competitive Systems and Practices (MSS30316), students must demonstrate competency with a minimum successful outcome of ten units plus one additional unit. Students will work towards achieving tangible outcomes through a series of workplace based activities and assessments in line with participating in group projects aimed to have a significant positive impact on the business and their day-today work processes.
